my 5 cents to Snow White
Fairy tales are prose texts that recount stories of magical events. They are a significant and very old genre in oral tradition, found in every culture and often featuring similar characters—albeit with different names and geographical twists.
Fairy tales can adapt to their times; they can be curated or "recast," and we can certainly create new ones.
Disney just holds the rights to its 1937 movie adaptation of "Snow White," but otherwise, fairy tales are in the public domain.
Fairy tales shouldn't just be consumed; they should be told and discussed. Maybe I'm too old school, but I loved reading to my daughter.
Disney is just a company that makes movies. The way people give it so much importance—honestly, it's pretty eye-rolling.
Disney gave the originals a face and pressed all the right buttons..sticking to the core stories that people loved.
However, now, this company is trying to churn out remakes and live-action versions, and it seems for various reasons they are awful. So..don't watch it?
The main actress's skin color and the political views of the other one are dragged into a very cheap PR culture war while a bloated corporation searches for its identity and a new target audience. The press joins in, haters get to hate, members gonna meme and general frustrations, racism, and resentments against women finally find an outlet.
People obviously enjoy the sensationalized polarizing kerfuffle. And that'swhy the film played in $87 million , and it’s just going up and up ..
