I grew up as someone who loved science and math. From a traditional viewpoint, I was a material objectivist. I believed that mass and matter were real, and that the things that we can measure objectively are "truth" and "reality".
I believed that mystical things were made up and in people's heads. I became a staunch atheist and struggled with existential dread most of my teens and twenties. I looked down on those with faith because I lacked it. I was jealous of the joy they found in selflessly helping others. I was so unsure of myself and my beliefs that I failed to recognize there were near infinite pathways to the mountaintop.
In my late teens I started having mystical experiences. I would have consciousness phenomena that didn't involve drugs that revealed truths to me. These truths would later come to be verified by the physical world. This "source consciousness" I am able to tap into would give me premonitions, tell me things before they came, and all sorts of other things that are wildly confusing for someone who is told that these sorts of things are crazy. Sometimes I would receive direct communication from source consciousness that left me in a state of confusion and disbelief.
Enough of these mystical experiences have stacked up throughout my life for me to understand that consciousness is this web that we are a part of. It can come to us and through us. We are it, experiencing ourselves in these subjective meat suits, to gain wisdom and knowledge and progress towards a state of love.
I think consciously setting intentions interacts with this consciousness web, it actively alters the probabilities of different outcomes in your favor of the intention that you set. I think that this is the power of prayer, because often prayers are effectively intentions. I think that new age spiritual beliefs of setting intentions and manifesting are just modern day ways of expressing the power of prayer as it relates to consciousness. With setting intentions or praying, the intent is important. If we are acting from a place of ego, not a place of love, then that vibration doesn't get carried out into the universe.
Love is all there is, that is the web, so only intentions that have love behind them will make their way out and Ripple across the many quantum probabilities of life to manifest what you want.
When you dwell in the negative, and you don't have control over your thoughts, your beliefs become your prison. You can manifest hell in your own mind. Your beliefs can trap you, and leave you ignorant of a vast world waiting to be discovered. Setting the intention to encounter that world might just take you on a Quantum probability leap to something beyond your wildest dreams.
God Bless
