McCormick won the race by a narrow margin of 0.4 points, leading by roughly 30,000 votes. The race was one of the most expensive Senate elections in the nation, with both campaigns and their allies spending over $300m on ads. McCormick's victory gives Republicans at least 53 seats in the Senate, erasing Democrats' previous majority.
