Cross border ticketing in a nutshell : I today have a regional ticket to Strasbourg and a connecting reservation in

TGV to - well, it's France - Paris. Unfortunately, my TER train was canceled. Both

and

proposed I should rather take the regional train via Germany and enter the same TGV already in Karlsruhe.
Thanks to validity of

D-Ticket, at least the regional part in Germany was no problem - but the following TGV with

mandatory reservation is a problem with this proposed re-routing. First of all, I highly doubt any conductor would complain in that case - but technically the inner-French ticket is not valid for the proposed detour.
Though I doubted

staff could give me a qualified option, I asked in Reisezentrum what to do about it. Response : though it's a cross-border TGV, they cannot rebook any SNCF reservation - though they would really like to help me in my case. They just proposed to ask the train staff onboard.
Sorry, but that's not helpful to passengers less routined in travelling - especially on #CrossBorderRail.
Can't you at least cooperate enough to be able to modify each-other's bookings on your cross-border cooperation trains ? If my train to Strasbourg is canceled, the solution can't be to go to Strasbourg to modify my reservation. It's again and again sad to see how awfully cross border rail is functional once anything unexpected happens.
I'm taking the TGV anyway (asking staff before for sure), but I guess most people would scaredly buy a new ticket which is quite expensive or just cancel their trip. This can't be state of the railway ticketing in 2024
