On the one hand, SCOTUS shouldn't be a playground for only rich lawyers who can afford a government salary.
On the other hand, if you can't live happily at a ~$300,000 salary with a spouse who also has income then --- absent some tragedy like extreme medical debt --- you probably should not be serving on SCOTUS.
