The newest character on the block is this juvenile Cooper's hawk. They aren't a shy bird—announcing their presence with screeching calls.

A couple of mornings ago, this bird landed right in the middle of the pigeon flock. The pigeons must have been shocked; they sat there with the hawk for a second or two before taking off.

Today, the hawk sat on this branch for a while. I watched the hawk; the hawk watched the pigeons (at a semi-safe distance). Everybody left when the hawk left the branch.
