Unauthorizely copying proprietary malware to run it is immoral (as you are increasing the network effect of such malware) and then proceeding to give the malware author more money is even more so.

For the purposes of reverse engineering, to get rid of that malware, such unauthorized copying is not immoral, although such act may be illegal.

The FSF publishes software under free licenses and also makes them available gratis to anyone, just as long as derivative works also respect the users freedom - yet there are many proprietary malware authors that come along and claim that the software that they just downloaded is "theirs now" and incorporate it in into their malware (as they're too incompetent to write working software unless most of the functionality is already done for them) and they always get a shock when they receive a strongly worded letter demanding that they respect the users freedom (with the full force of the law behind it) from the FSF's lawyers and are required to release all derivative works as free software, or cease distribution forever.
