Females still do not get it. They are in worldwide competition.

A man can always do two things: 1) marry down socially, if he desires out of love 2) marry someone younger than him.

The degree to which he can get much younger hinges on his income departure from the mean.

For a female though, after 25, unless she is a 10, and that is only 1% of the entire population of females, or perhaps a 8, which is 2% of the female population, all she can do is marry older and poorer as she ages.

By the time a female reaches 30, for her to marry a peer male, she must accept, not select, but accept a male with an income below the mean for males, or accept a male who is 10 years her senior, or higher for every one-tenth more of income above the mean.
