When I was a teen I was already incredibly into music and hi-fi stuff, ie a giant dork.
I bought a really cool Pananasonic Discman with shock protection (a buffer) and permanently closed the little internal push-button on the PCB with a hot screwdriver for neat party tricks:
play music; open lid; take out CD WHILE MUSIC CONTINUES PLAYING; throw it in the air, juggle, frisbee for 30 seconds, and put it back in while the music continues literally without skipping a beat.
