Folks, as a general rule, I'm not one for drama, or follow policing, which is why I didn't originally name the person in question. They are not "a liberal" or a fascist, or at least they don't present as such.

It's a popular "left wing" account named LA Legault dissents. Several months ago they showed up in my replies on Jorts, to defend the Kids Online Safety Act; a horrifying bill that will give fascists who have OPENLY ADMITTED they want to use it to police access to LGBTQ content, and give themselves the right to keep young people from even LEARNING about LGBTQ identities, while simultaneously continuing their quest to conflate LGBTQ people existing as sexualizing children and child abuse. As you can imagine, that conversation did NOT go well, and after at most two posts trying to explain to her how harmful what she was doing was, I blocked her.

In the time since then, she has become rather popular out here for her good takes, particularly on Gaza. This morning, she followed me on THIS account. So I PM'd her to ask her "what are you doing here and has your opinion on KOSA changed" and her reply was once again, some bullshit about CSAM and "protecting children" - which is literally the exact same thing the fascists say to justify this bill they ADMIT is ultimately about criminalizing LGBTQ content and identities. The Heritage Foundation LOVES this bill.

This person claims to be a (former) journalist, and I can and have already, produced more than a dozen articles explaining that everything I'm saying here, about this bill, is correct. This means I know she could have found all this out herself, and indeed SHOULD have done so by now. I do not care if she's doing it "for the children" and that's the EXACT same excuse the nazis give for this monstrous shit. I even tried to give her some room to grow; she didn't take advantage of that. So I blocked her again.

You can do whatever you want, follow whoever you want, feel however you want about this person. I'm not going to come after you because you're fond of your new friend. But I do not think she is my friend, and I do think folks like her are quite dangerous to my community. I did the subtweet thing PRECISELY because this is both serious, and also because I didn't want to be follow policing my friends; who seem to love her... fairly basic takes. I don't trust her, and I definitely don't want her following me or in my mentions. After that, you can do whatever you want about this, including nothing at all. I respect your agency, but she caught that block, TWICE, for a very good reason in my opinion.

I do not particularly TRUST people who believe Marsha Blackburn and the Heritage Foundation are doing things that harm and demonize the LGBTQ community, "for the children." If you want to believe she's just a rube, that's your business. I do not believe that, and given that we're in the middle of an ongoing pogrom against LGBTQ people, that's starting with trans people (hint: I'm trans) and is explicitly being framed as protecting against "sexualization" and "abuse" against your kids, by even TALKING about queer identities and being openly LGBTQ anywhere kids MIGHT be - I cannot afford to give people like that the benefit of the doubt.

IMHO? She's dogshit. You can feel however you like about her.
