I come from that field.

The wireless carriers keep dumping billions of dollars into making their networks better but have to yet see a return on investment.

With 4G, the carriers did the investment and Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Netflix, and Google got the returns.

So far, the 5G movie is following the same script. All investments with no returns.

Hard to believe that shareholders for the carriers would sign up for 6G in what would amount as a 3rd round of subsidized development for application companies.
