Question for Mastodon experts (and I know there are heaps here) - how does a view from Mastodon show up in blog stats on Wordpress... Or does a click through from Mastodon not show up at all?
I'm writing a post on my transition away from Twitter. I'm trying to get a feel for what 'traffic' means from Mastodon and if there's any way to measure it. I've scrolled through my Wordpress stats and not seen one Mastodon server in months, which seems odd when people are definitely clicking through and reading from here.
For context: I'm trying to write something to persuade academics who enjoy making free content in the public interest, as I do, that Mastodon is a good place to invest time.
Please boost if you think someone in your network can answer the question and thanks in advance.
(Before it happens, PLEASE refrain from replying along the lines of 'stop fame whoring stats don't matter' and 'Mastodon should only be for chats and you'll ruin it if you care about stats'.
I love you all, but I've heard these Views a lot. I also know not everyone feels that way: lots of us like to follow creators and web curators like me. What I do is not commercial activity - I'm aiming for research impact.)
