An older father and his young-adult daughter are sitting at the table next to me, in this coffee shop, looking at housing online. After about 20 minutes of looking and talking, the young lady bursts into tears about how hopeless she feels about providing housing for her family. It’s evident that she was buying a house not only for her immediate family, but for her parents as well. She said over half her income would have to go towards mortgage and taxes. Her dad just held her, said he was so sorry, and that he and her mom would be okay.

I hate fiat. I hate the theft of time and energy. I hate that people are becoming more and more hopeless about their lives and their futures. God, my heart groans for the captives, the broken, the poor, the powerless, the marginalized, the widows and orphans, the crushed, the oppressed. I see them. I SEE and HEAR them. Do you?
