I've met a surprising number of people who think proof-of-work isn't fair.
Fiat money is actually what isn't fair. Today, broken fiat money can be abused to buy proof-of-work (although this rarely happens — why would a Cantillonaire submit to a fair protocol when they can game an unfair one like fiat?)
This won't always be the case. And once bitcoin is humanity's money, then the purchase of proof-of-work will be perfectly fair. Proof-of-work itself has always has been the only protocol which can't be tricked or abused or cheated.
Proof-of-work is the most fair protocol, and reality itself demands proof-of-work for every thing you do.
