We started out selling our works at a cool hippie fair in our town, where we’ve sold thousands of pieces over the years. However, at some point, the grind of a 5-day production cycle followed by 2 days of intense fair-selling with no rest became exhausting.
So, we shifted to selling our pieces to small art and handicraft stores in our town. Being a tourist destination, the city is filled with such shops. This allowed us to spend weekends at home, but we had to sell our work at half the price to give the stores room for their profits. In the end, it turned out to be even harder than the fair, with the only difference being that we were now working weekends at home instead of at the fair.
Then the internet arrived. We’ve always dreamed of selling our art online, but for many reasons, it just wasn’t feasible for us. Websites like Etsy, which are great for selling handmade items, weren’t accessible to Brazilian artists. Local services imposed impractically short shipping deadlines (like 24-hour turnarounds), which we and many other artists in our town couldn’t meet—especially since some of us live far from the city center.
But then came #Bitcoin #btc, #nostr, #shopstr, and #v4v! This liberated us from all the frustrating bureaucracy, allowing us to sell our art freely, smoothly, and on our own terms. Most people can't even start to imagine how revolutionary this is!
