The vaquita's habitat is found in the territory of just one country, Mexico, in the northernmost part of the Gulf of California. However, the factors that are driving it to extinction also involve other nations. The main factor that has crushed the population of this little mammal is its incidental capture in fishing nets. Many of these nets are set for a large fish, the totoaba, which has a large internal organ (its swim bladder)
