IMO, it will take effort and energy to increase the quality of our system.. simply walking away probably isn't going to do the trick.
how about a reconciliation commission? public or private mechanisms for this could be very beneficial
neutering (with messaging, not scalpels, to the extent it's possible) the destabilizing aspects of the system is probably also a good start... e.g. get rid of termites before replacing the deteriorated structural components
