It's going to be real awkward when people realize oil is one of the most efficient and sustainable batteries provided to us by the laws of physics.
Sure you can dig up a bunch of rare minerals and use slave labor to make lithium batteries that crack and need to be recreated (more energy inputs) every 10 years, but maybe we just focus on cleaner ways of converting the oil battery into kinetic energy.
