Following years of ‘restorative justice’ not curbing school violence, Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth has finally caved in, now urging head teachers to suspend disruptive pupils from school, saying the violence may discourage potential teachers!
Previous advice had urged ‘warmth’ and ‘emotional responsiveness’ to pupils who cause havoc and danger to others, and Gilruth says exclusion was always clearly allowed! Well, if it was, it was definitely discouraged. Nearly four in ten teachers have been attacked with weapons including chairs and knives, with an attack every four minutes, and 83% of staff said violent and abusive behaviour was rising.
Police Scotland need to ask ‘What is the Law’?
Despite Chief Constable Jo Farrell saying last year that any man who rapes or commits a sexual assault will ‘always’ be recorded as male, they are allowed to self-ID as another ‘gender’ for non-sexual crimes. For now. Following a public furore over police, prison and other public bodies’ treatment of trans people, Police Scotland is now asking the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) for advice on the law on classifying trans people in crime figures. That’s right, the law enforcers don’t know what the law is.
