Similar to how the mass extinction of dinosaurs led to other than the ostrich, Australia and New Zealand having the last dinosaurs. Emu's and cassowaries. We lost most of the Pleistocene megafauna apart from elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses. In the ocean though the blue whales continue to grow in size where they have more protection from land based extinction events.
