It's probably the best API for using Vulkan/Metal/DX12 (and even OpenGL ES 3 if you avoid some features) in a cross platform way, with a single API and a single shading language. I guess it's not that much of an advantage when using a prebuilt engine though.
Having it in the browser allows me to publish demos that people can try without compromising security. But other than that I don't really have a strong opinion about WebGPU in the browser.
