With the state of the Overton Window these days, I don't think your average Fox News viewer knows the difference between "1950s conservatives but somewhat less racist" and "actual literal communist" because right-wing media generally portrays them all alike as "radical left socialism" or the like. They certainly treat "liberal" and "leftist" as synonyms.
