CD-r was less reliable for me than probably even floppy. And it wasn’t possible to buy “the good ones.” I tried them all, they all failed. We had a daily backup we did at work, and we always ran it twice because the failure rate was high enough that was the only way to be sure. And only with a particular disk, which when the drive changed on a hardware rev, we had to change.
