The continuity between the Old and New Testament is everywhere.

Some think the OT God is different to the NT. This is incorrect, Jesus, the god man is part of the divine essence, therefore eternal, part of the trinity. Uncreated. He took part in creation itself.

Jesus, the Son of God is present numerous times in the OT. Two important occurrences I've learnt today are in the writings of the burning bush in Exodus and each time the 'Angel of The Lord' appears in the OT. In this case it is the Father sending the Son - Jesus (prior to the incarnation)...

Jesus gave us the rules in the OT in the Book of Leviticus as he did in the Gospel of Matthew writings of the Sermon on the Mount as the head priest of the new church he was making, replacing the old covenant of the OT.

Leviticus 19:18
"‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord."

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
