I've been thinking about this quote, but there is a tricky part. Imagine something is scarce but the biggest buyer is 1 participant. Then other participants (specially those rivallizing them) will lose interest on it, because buying it, will only increase their rival budget. Also it doesn't make sense for the participant to be the only owener of something scarce as he won't be able to trade it. In the case of Bitcoin, it must be spread as for many participants as possible.
