Masculinity is under attack
I actually think this is a good thing. Let me explain
There is not 1 type of masculinity
In fact, there are 3 stages of masculine evolution according to David Deida & only 1 of them is under attack
Stage 1 - "The Tough Guy" This is what people are referring to when they say toxic masculinity. Think men who need big muscles, a fat wallet, & hot women to feel like a man. This type of man is so insecure that they overcompensate on the outside. Terrified of his internal feminine. Says to his woman "my way or the highway."
Stage 2 - "The 50/50 Man." This is a man who, seeing the idiocy of stage 1, reacts to it by disconnecting from his masculine. He has no opinion, uses "niceness" & “agreeableness" to get his needs met, no spine, no balls, stands for nothing. His woman always feels unsatisfied. Says to his woman "What way do you want to go? I have no opinion of my own."
Stage 3 - "The Conscious, Embodied Masculine." This is a man fearlessly & unapologetically masculine, willing to lead for what he knows to be true, right, & good, willing to stand for something, has personal boundaries. Admits when he is wrong. Expresses his emotions. Sees his feminine self as a source of power.
Says "The Divine way, or the highway."
I'm glad stage 1 masculinity is under attack. It's caused tremendous destruction to society
But abnegating masculinity altogether is not the answer
Right now, all conscious men have the opportunity to show the world what real masculinity looks like
We have an opportunity to show the world that conscious & embodied masculinity is a gift to all & the solution to the world's challenges
The time is now men! Let's band together and bring real masculinity to the world
