Some terrorist organisations use a flag that is black and contains white text of the Muslim declaration of faith in Arabic.
The groups using that flag really hate gay people, so some liberal gays obliged their own militarised states by parodying the flag using things like dildos in place of the Arabic script.
However, the text of that flag is super holy to Muslims. The terrorists claim to speak on behalf of all Muslims, so they say this is fine. But for Muslims in the diaspora, especially LGBT Muslims, this was just fucking awful. Terrible.
The people waving these flags should have been ejected from Pride, but instead they were widely praised in liberal spaces for their good work promoting militarism and Islamophobia by "standing up" to groups operating thousands of miles away.
The terrorist groups, by the way, also hate the diaspora. They want all Muslims to live in one region, under their rule. If things gets worse for Muslims in liberal democracies, they think that's great. Indeed, they hope to provoke that. Every Islamophobic act in a western country is acting in solidarity with fascistic terrorist groups. So, while I'm sure they would have found the dildo flags offensive if they were even aware of them (the primary, actual target of such flags was always LGBT Muslims), the existence of those flags only helps them achieve their goals.
In summary: the gay people with the dildo flags are fucking assholes and this kind of mocking/abuse of the texts and symbols of minority religious/ethnic groups should not be tolerated at pride or anywhere else. We should be comrades with minoritised people. Especially lgbt people should be because some of those people *are* us.
....
In completely unrelated news I *really* wish the state of Israel didn't put sacred symbols on their flags and military uniforms.
