Sure, they’re issuing tons of bonuses to themselves. But from what I heard from the Mesa circle the company was losing….either 47M or a couple bil every quarter? And the guys were seeing that a TON of executive management jobs are listed in the company intraweb.
Airlines can’t just operate in the red forever, only using a fraction of their fleet. I suspect there’s some kind of understanding between the execs, I know they can be complacent and just move to the next job, but the way the industry embraces all this “net zero by 2030/2050” nonsense makes me think they too are totally okay with making personal air travel a lot less common than it was in 2019. It’s like they’re content to watch a permanent decline, there’s little urgency to actually ensure the survival of the industry in 30 years.
And the retirement cliff is less than a decade away. Best they got right now is bumping the 65 yo limit to 67…and ALPA’s fighting that every inch of the way (hilarious)
