DuckDuckGo ads on CNN's main channel is not something I thought I would see. But it's good to see regardless!
For Google's first 10, 15 years, I was very grateful for and a big fan of the service. I still remember Buchheit / Patel's mission statement, long since removed:
"Don't be evil".
(replaced with "Do the right thing" which usually means do the thing that best serves the corporation).
I still use Google Docs and Drive as two core tools for creative work (paying for the latter); but in the past 2 years, I've removed a lot of Google's hooks and claws from our website, and from my online life.
I will be very happy on the day Google's searches are surpassed by another company with more altruistic beliefs.
