So I mentioned a boat sank earlier...

Just as I'd got off my boat and was getting changed ready to go to the marina, I heard a crunch and looked up to see a boat where a boat shouldn't be.

He's the little yellow bit, next to the shingle bank.

Fearing a medical emergency, I went over to see what's what.

He'd beached and signalled that the boat was dead, so I asked if he needed any help. He said no, but I stuck around to watch.

Just as well I did, he went to jump off the side, to what looked like the shingle bank and he *should* have been okay, but the channel runs deep and he disappeared under the water. No pics. I was too busy sitting myself thinking I'd have to jump in. Guys in his mid sixties.

He got out, having failed to find the hole. Common for men jokes aside, it became clear he was sinking and the tide, which had been very low, was moving in more and more.

I watched and offered to help off load goods while we could still reach across, but it became clear that she was going down and starting to list.

Fortunately another boat came by and they offloaded his gear, including what electronics he could salvage, so I waited to be sure he was off safely.

By this point he was still talking to us on shore, and we pointed out that he was starting to list badly and was close to taking on water straight over the side.

Fortunately he got off just in time. She went over, within 5 minutes of it starting to go over the side.

Fortunately some 6 hours later, at the height of the tide, the Harbour Master put out a notice to inform mariners about the danger.

No mention of what he hit to cause him to sink though. It was a stupidly low tide but any dangers should be marked. I suspect an insurance claim incoming.
