If I heard about it and someone didn't explain that orange cornflour washes off easily to me, I would have made the assumption that they were trying to pull a similar stunt to Letzte Generation throwing paint on Brandenburger Tor in Berlin, which still had stains on it months later. That's probably what happened with the apoplectic people. They missed some details.
