The latest forecasts show the boe sees a recession starting in the first quarter and lasting for five quarters, but the magnitude is better than in its last report, with peak-to-underestimate GDP falling by about 1 percent, much better than the 2.9 percent previously forecast, and the peak unemployment rate cut to 5.3 percent from 6 percent.
