Attention Beige Party-goers! State of The Instance - January 2024
Happy new year everyone, and happy beigeversary! On November 8th we officially turned one year old, an event that I completely neglected to acknowledge, but several of you celebrated your own individual beigeversaries, so thank all of you for continuing to be what makes this non-cult great.
I just wanted to post a quick update to go over the numbers:
Over the last three moths we've gained 57 new party-goers, plus 5 new sign-ups in the first seven days of January, for a grand total of 346 users. Of those, 219 accounts have been active in the last month.

On to Finances:
For the period of October - December we received $700.00 in donations. After PayPal fees, that comes out to $624.56. We had $1,018.88 left over from September, so our total available funds for paying the hosting bills for the 3-month period was $1,643.44.
As I was doing the year-end reconciliation of the beige books I realized that I messed up the numbers I reported for July and August. I paid the correct amount for hosting costs, but ended up under-reporting the fees by $35.89. In order to bring the accounts back into balance I have added that amount as "JUL-AUG Underpay" under the October hosting fees.
The monthly hosting fees break down as follows:
October:
VPS Hosting: $80.73
Foreign Transaction Fee: $2.17
S3 Storage: $6.75
SMTP Relay: $15.00
JUL-AUG Underpay: $35.89
Total: $140.54
November:
VPS Hosting: $83.55
Foreign Transaction Fee: $2.25
S3 Storage: $6.93
SMTP Relay: $15.00
Total: $107.73
December:
VPS Hosting: $92.04
Foreign Transaction Fee: $2.48
S3 Storage: $8.23
SMTP Relay: $15.00
Total: $117.75
For a grand total of $366.02. After paying the hosting bills for October-December, we have $1,277.42 left in donation funds, plus an additional $71.24 (after PayPal fees) donated in the first seven days of January, for a total of $1,348.66. That's enough to keep us running for nearly a year, so we are in good shape. Thank you to all who donated!
