Growing up, my mother's way to nag father and I into action was to "so nice" what she wanted.

"Look at that man, he's so nice when he's clean shaven."

Or

"It so nice you can see that house with the bottom of those trees trimmed the light must be so nice."

Just over and over again.

It was insufferable. Even for things I had nothing to do with to hear it going on so I would try to spot things she wanted and pre-emptively bash them.

I was and still am spiteful.
