The fundamental principal of capitalism is private ownership with a motive of profit.
I think you're conflating the economy/trade with capitalism. Those are not the same thing.
You can still have trade, or an economy, with complex interactions, without capitalism.
The reality is, capitalism in and of itself, without guard rails and periodic bailouts, is unsustainable by itself. And there truly are better ways of doing things.
