In other news, yesterday was a fiery day.

First, I plugged in a lamp into an outlet socket that I apparently hadn't used yet and the outlet started smoking. Fortunately the room had been recently repainted and the outlet covers were still off so the smoke coming out of the outlet was immediately apparent. As far as I can tell it was just a faulty outlet that shorted enough to start melting but not enough to trip the circuit breaker, so that was fun.

And then I was planning a trip back to the old house to make some repairs and otherwise work on getting it ready to sell, only to learn that there are multiple wildfires in the area, one only a couple miles from the house. So far it's still standing and the nearest fire is reportedly contained, but the whole area is under an evacuation order and the roads are all closed.
