What I wouldn't give for electronic devices that *don't* sing a little song when they turn on, when they are starting to work, when they finish, when they think they've been ignored... I want to take a blunt axe to our brand new frigidaire because it whistles its "the door's been open too long!" sound about half the time we open it to get something out. I don't need the dishwasher or washing machine tootling at me--just do your damn job and get on with it!
It was cute for a while, but now EVERYTHING does it and it's unnecessary and annoying. Harumf.
I need a pot of tea. Luckily that's the one thing we have that doesn't whistle--I don't use a teakettle, we turned off all beeps and boops on the microwaves, and the stovetop doesn't warble either. The oven chirps when it reaches its desired temperature, and that I will admit is functional. 😉
