Just when you think the American left and right have diverged so far that the _next piece of information_ will undoubtably force a coherence(!), it doesn't happen... and in fact they double-down on their dis-coherence.
Every bit of news for the last few weeks: The right is like "look! even _more_ proof that we haven't been making shit up - the country is captured" and the Left: "look! even _more_ proof that this is fascism playing out!".
Each piece of "proof" for each side inflates the bubble when they think it ought to pop it. the bubble grows to cover more things, making it even more risky for it to pop - and the defense against the popping (because it would be so catastrophic for either side, for the left: admit you were wrong all along and the deep state has been a problem, there was no fascism, you've been lying to everyone and were the actual "threat to democracy". for the right: admit that in your pursuit of "liberation" you've created an actual accidental dictatorship) is to print more "credibility backed by nothing" and grow the epistemological debt.
