Similar allegations were made against the EFF when they worked with Apple to push back the US government's attempt to violate the privacy of people using certain Apple products and services. People making such claims were wrong, for exactly the same reasons they're wrong about the OSI. In both cases, these orgs took a principled position, based on the facts of the situation. Not caring that the targets of unprincipled action happened to be traditional opponents.
