If you use a ColdCard (or any cold storage wallet that supports BIP-39) you can create multiple wallets on the same set of keys using a passphrase.
This makes it easy to segment your bitcoin holdings while simplifying your key management. Assuming you already hold BTC for other reasons, such as retirement, emergency fund, etc.
So, with this approach, you could set up a cold storage wallet for your child (congrats!!) and then just transfer BTC to that wallet, direct to cold storage, without needing to "plug in" the CC or anything.
It's secure, convenient, and clean.
