The Israeli army began an unprecedented bombardment of areas in northern Gaza on October 5, followed by a tight blockade that prevents entry and exit, except through checkpoints set up by the Israeli army, where people are searched, and only a few medical convoys from the World Health Organization or the International Committee of the Red Cross are allowed to enter to evacuate the wounded. Dr. Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, announced yesterday that the hospital is providing services with minimal capabilities under the Israeli army's detention of medical staff and prevention of medical supplies. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Red Crescent's spokesperson, Raed Nems, emphasized in a statement to Al-Ittihad that the situation in northern Gaza is extremely difficult due to Israeli attacks and the prevention of medical teams from reaching the wounded and providing aid. Nems said that Israeli forces deliberately reroute displacement movements to increase the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians, as hundreds of thousands in Gaza are moving under extremely difficult conditions, without water, food, medicine, or money. The displaced are moving to unknown areas through routes claimed by Israel to be humanitarian, and are arrested, tortured, and attacked, coinciding with the closure of the Rafah crossing and the lack of sufficient aid on the humanitarian, medical, and relief levels, making the situation catastrophic. These conditions must prompt the international community to take action to stop the war, provide protection to the Palestinian people, and enable humanitarian, medical, and relief teams to provide aid and reduce the suffering of affected groups before it's too late.
