BITRUNNER #096 🪶

In a backstreet lab, an augmented is born,
Half-machine and half forlorn,
A being caught between two worlds,
As metal flesh is slowly twirled.

His thoughts are jumbled, a mix of old and new,
Memories of human life and circuits too,
A mechanical heart starts to beat,
As electrodes fire to make him complete.

He watches as wires are spliced and sewn,
A body assembled, piece by chrome,
Silent screams echo in his mind,
As he struggles to leave humanity behind.

But no matter how much he resists,
His cybernetic form cannot be dismissed,
For he is a creature of science and dread,
A nightmare creation that's better off dead.

As the process comes to a close,
He knows his fate is askew,
He longs for the warmth of human touch,
But he is now part machine, and such is his crutch.

With a flick of a switch, his eyes come alive,
A new consciousness begins to thrive,
And though he tries to hold onto his past,
He knows those days are gone at last.

For now, he must embrace his new life,
As a BITRUNNER, he must put aside his strife,
And so he stands, a creation of fear,
A being that's neither here nor there.
