Srsly, I don't know how I feel about this situation. I'm one of those weirdos who actually wants, or wanted, a copper pair back to a central office with dial tone, just in case I have to call 911, because I know that land line has an address associated with it and the 911 infrastructure can get that to the first responder. But I also want faster and more reliable data service than I can apparently get over a crumbling 5000-foot copper pair.
