Story time: Many years ago, the Peabody Award people lobbied me to apply. They emailed me personally to say they were creating a podcasting category, and they thought Grammar Girl would be a good candidate.
So I applied, which is not cheap and is time-consuming.
And then ... they didn't give an award to anyone in that category. No one.
I'm on some list, though, where I still get notifications that the award period is open, and every time I get a notification, I get angry all over again.
