I've been to Japan twice, the first time, cigarets everywhere, the warning were like, "Don't hold your lit cigaret too low, you might poke a kids eye" and things like that.
The second trip, they had banned smoking, outside. It was still okay on a private and business property. You would see lots of people in alleys standing on door thresholds to have a smoke.
So glad I quit tobacco after 38 years.
