Same problem here.
Pro tip: leave the watch active on the NIPs, but in the GitHub preferences choose the email alert only for direct mentions and issues/PR you are working on, and let all the other notifications go to the GitHub web inbox. This way, you free up your email, but when you want, you can keep an eye on the ongoing activities.
