One of the endearing things about local politics are the very local traditions tied up in them. In the City of #PortAlberni when there is an election, and to determine a random order on the ballot, the names of the candidates for Council get drawn out of the top hat of the first Mayor of Port Alberni, AE Waterhouse. The hat has an awesome case.

This happened on Friday. A by-election is on to fill the seat left after a councillor passed away suddenly this summer. #RIP
