Ok, DS, I have carefully reviewed and dissected your #roastnote & accompanying visual artifacts (the cartoon). I’ve concluded it was “good”.
But I know you can do better, I’ve seen your work.
So, as I sit here with a freshly chilled glass of Chopin being entertained by my roastnote, I can’t help but wonder, are you taking it easy on me bc you like me or bc you didn’t think I was worthy of your best. 🤷🏾‍♂️ I'm going with the former and not the latter bc who doesn't like Shashue.
At any rate, I’m glad you didn’t mute me, bc I like reading your replies, and muting me would mean I’d have to use another handle for my regular DS fix.
On a slightly different note, I want to elaborate a bit about my post from last night and hope this gives you more context and an example.
My daughter is a 28 y/o paramedic in the state of DE and she sometimes takes first responder calls to PA.
We engage primarily via text. But periodically it's a phone call. And yesterday it was a phone call.
When I get calls instead of a text message, it’s bc she was on a scene and has seen something I wish she didn’t have to see. Situations that involve societies most vulnerable, children, regarded folks, the elderly and sometimes animals. I should also add she is a new mom.
I get the calls because she is distraught and usually traumatized by what she has seen.
Those calls bother me bc I listen to what she’s experienced in it’s raw form, usually right after the fact and I wish she didn’t have to see those kinds of things.
Yes, I know she’s an adult and there are bad people that do sick isht in the world. I get that.
But eventually the conversation almost always morphs into “how to not let work poison the home or family”.
While she is not a cop, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of these stats are the same between cops and paramedics.
Stats like the divorce rates, PTSD, anxiety, etc.
So, I usually get the raw unfiltered experience that she witnessed. I’m glad it’s me and not her partner or son.
So, all that to say, getting on social media and having a big mic (however many followers you have) and transmitting the ugliness that does exist in the world…I mean….why? There is no algo to appease. Nostr folks already know the effed up things that people do. There are soldiers and cops on this platform with real body counts, they don’t need a reminder. I don’t.
Like I said earlier on, I do often read your notes (to other users) and have never replied until last night. And that was probably the result of a combination of things.
It’s a long one. But I wanted to make sure you understood where I was coming from.
If you feel more comfortable DM’ing a reply instead of chopping this out on the town square, I will read your reply.
That is all.
