I got my first watercolor painting lesson today. The oldest grandson showed me how to mix the paints. We started with a book of sketched patterns.
I was doing pretty good until my hands, weary from gardening, dropped the brush with green paint. I ended up with extra leaves.
We had loads of fun and good conversation.
At his age, I think it is hard to understand how getting old can sneak up on a person.
It was good to talk about aging and tell him the things that have taken me by surprise as I get older. I explained why I don't dye my hair or buy products that promise to make me look younger. For me, staying physically strong and as active as possible is the priority.
Clearly, recent political events are making this a good time to talk about longevity and having a healthy attitude about aging.
It was a good talk.
