I think #Primal's default set are pretty good actually, same with #Snort. I'm not planning to let #Apple rip me off to try #Damus but I hear good things about it.
I think the only reason to add alternative #relays is if you want something special like a bridge or whatever. Otherwise the defaults seem to be well chosen.
